Procedures Guide - Index

The Procedure Guide addresses various issues relating to the Board and its day-to-day work administering the Labour Relations Code and other labour legislation. It is a useful resource for Board staff and members as well as the public generally. It covers various topics ranging from the Board’s jurisdiction to a review of how the Board handles applications, complaints and references.

The manual is intended as a guide only. The Board is free to deviate from these guidelines where the Board or its staff considers it appropriate to do so.

CONTENTS

This manual contains 36 chapters:

  • Chapters 1-3 review the preparation and purpose of the manual as well as the Board’s Mission Statement.
  • Chapters 3-9 give an overview of the Board. These chapters also outline the parameters of the Board's jurisdiction.
  • Chapters 10-14 outline personnel functions and office operations required to administer the legislation. Of particular importance are the standardized paper-flow procedures.
  • Chapters 15-36 outline the legislation and explain its application. This includes detailing the legislative requirements and the Board's investigative and administrative processes. The subjects dealt with are both stable (legislative requirements-altered by legislative changes) and variable (investigative processes-altered by Board management or caucus).
