Biography - Mr. Tom Hodges

Tom Hodges has over one hundred published arbitration decisions. He is appointed from the Roster of Arbitrators with Alberta Labour and the Ontario Minister of Labour’s List of Approved Grievance Arbitrators. He is named as arbitrator in collective agreements covering both public and private sector in provincial and federal bargaining units across Canada including the British Columbia Nurses Union and the Health Employers Association of British Columbia; United Nurses of Alberta and Alberta Health Services; Unifor and Air Canada/Jazz (Multiple Bargaining Units), Unifor - Morningstar Air (FedEx), Unifor - Toronto Airport Authority, CUPE – Canadian North, Canada Post and APOC, Unifor - Ontario Air Ambulance (Ornge).

Tom began mediating labor-management disputes in 1992 with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS). Tom was a Director with FMCS from 1993 to 2000 in Ottawa and in Calgary form 2000 to 2005. He was one of the first mediators of the Ontario Superior Court in Ottawa from 1997 to 2000. In 2005 Tom joined the Health Employers Association of British Columbia as Vice President of Labour Relations. In 2008 Tom returned to Calgary Alberta where he established his national arbitration and mediation practice.

Mr. Hodges holds a Master of Arts Degree in Conflict Analysis and Management. He has also studied negotiations and mediation with the Harvard University Conflict Management Group as well as multi-cultural conflict resolution at the United Nations System Staff College in Turin Italy.
